It is confirmed the Dark Horse will have 500HP
Ford has introduced the most powerful Mustang ever made, the Mustang Dark Horse. The new model features a 500-horsepower fourth-generation Coyote V8 engine, the most powerful non-Shelby edition ever. The engine has been upgraded to produce even more power, thanks to a uniquely balanced crankshaft and forged piston connecting rods, which were first introduced in the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The Mustang Dark Horse also features strengthened camshafts for track-durability needs, allowing it to operate closer to its 7,500-rpm redline. "With the increased responsiveness you get from the new dual throttle bodies, we're wringing every ounce of performance we can out of our engine so Mustang enthusiasts can have that experience," said Suzanne Robinson, Coyote engine program supervisor.

GT gets a boost when opting for the active exhaust option
The all-new Mustang GT features a fourth-generation Coyote V8 engine, which is designed to make the car more exhilarating and visceral to drive. The available active-valve performance exhaust system enables the Mustang GT to deliver 486 horsepower and 418 ft.-lb. of torque, thanks to its free-flowing design and the ability to close the valves to restrict noise.
Those who opt for the standard Mustang GT will still enjoy 480 horsepower, the most standard power ever offered in a naturally aspirated V8-powered Mustang. The engine also delivers 415 ft.-lb. of torque, the most standard torque ever offered.
The fourth-generation Coyote V8 features a segment-first dual intake and dual throttle body induction system, which is matched with structural improvements and an upgraded oil pan. This helps to minimize induction loss and enable higher air flow rates. The horsepower and torque ratings are the same for both automatic and manual transmissions on the Mustang GT and Mustang Dark Horse.

Still plenty of power left over for the lower end models
The all-new 2024 Mustang EcoBoost continues the tradition of affordable performance, offering up to 315 horsepower from its 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. This marks the most standard power ever offered in a four- or six-cylinder Mustang. In addition to its impressive power output, the engine also delivers 350 ft.-lb. of torque.
